The 2020 edition of our Education at a Glance report provides a comprehensive overview of education systems in OECD member and partner countries, including detailed indicators across all levels of education – with a focus on vocational education in particular. Building on the OECD Skills Strategy 2019, which identified four main challenges of skills systems governance, the report presents examples of how six different countries (Estonia, Germany, Korea, Norway, Portugal and the United States) have responded to one or several of these challenges. While there is always room to do more, this report should give parents, students, educators and employers confidence in our education system. At the official release event, Andreas Schleicher, Director of OECD Education and Skills, highlighted how the many inadequacies and inequities in our education systems has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
