That’s why I’m getting the attention that I am because I had that freedom as a kid, and you get caught up in other roles and other times, and it escaped me. One thing I do think has changed is the prejudice shown in the series, and that’s a great thing and something the show celebrates. When I was a kid, I used to watch Andy walk around Manhattan. I already told him that. I feel like there’s such a feeling of hope. It used to be called the “Dream Factory.” I think that still exists today. I love Clark in that. It brought tears to my eyes because she was just so thrilled to be going to work and being around such great actors and people. Ryan helped that cause a great deal; he provides these incredible characters, and his imagination just never stops. She saw that in me many, many years ago, but I haven’t been able to exactly express myself in a way that I’m doing in Hollywood. I’ve always had great admiration for her.
