Doing actual pushups is seen as an add on to the burpee at every studio I've been to. OTF-I hover for the push up. ♀️.
However, you are supposed to get your chest to touch the floor (just doesn't have to be a full-form pushup) and also do the hop at the top for it to be a burpee, whether at OTF or anywhere else. I just go full speed to the floor and bounce off my chest every time. I feel that if I go to the floor then my pushup doesn't have the rigid form I look for in my hips. That's what I do as well for two reasons.
Chest to floor is called a deadman burpee.
When I go to OTF studios it is done with a push-up.

I care more about a strict push-up then the CF worm of a push up that is done. If doing a burpee the chest doesn’t need to hit the floor.

Of course there’s the CF way with chest to floor, I will sometimes do those on days where we have high reps, those don’t take as long to do so I can get through them quicker (therefore you get a bit more cardio vs. doing a full push up), plus they work your core if you hold a plank for a bit before dropping. We did burpees in Crossfit the same way we do burpees in OTF. I also did a year long tour with CrossFit but feel that the emphasis on "more, faster" sacrifices form and risks injury. Crossfit is chest to ground because we don’t do the push up. Also, yesterday I learned after the pushup, you can get back onto your feet using a pop squat, landing and pushing with your heels to engage more glutes, then do your jump.
