The many sidetrips and places to stop and enjoy the views, having a coffee at the Bacino Bar or fish and chips on Balmoral Beach, will all make this walk an excellent way to ease into longer distance walking.

This walk explores a great section of Sydney Harbour. Total climbing: 31m, The Hermitage Foreshore Walk is a wonderful way to explore Sydney Harbour from the perspective of South Head. A great spot to watch the sailing boats on a clear day. The views over Sydney Harbour can be enjoyed from many vantage points. You can see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge – Sydney’s most famous icons – in all their glory. The walk from Chowder Bay to Middle Head is an interesting one, passing Georges Head Lookout and its views over South Head, and then going up to the WW1 hospital. Chowder Head provides a small unfenced rocky outcrop to enjoy the wide harbour views.

This kiosk supplies passers-by with a home-blend coffee and sandwiches, and all at a reasonable price ($5-12). You can access the track by catching the ferry to Taronga Zoo.

Total climbing: 111m, This track takes you from Taronga Zoo Ferry, directly to Camp Curlew. Total climbing: 107m, The walk around Bradleys Head is packed with great views and cultural heritage. The walk from Bradleys Head around Taylor's Bay to Chowder Bay through the Sydney Harbour National Park is the second of three walks along the northern foreshores from Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach. Along the way, you will visit some secluded beaches and visit the historic Strickland House. The wildlife and natural bushland are very much thriving in this part of Sydney. There are places for the kids to play, grand houses and great harbour views to enjoy. Total climbing: 334m, This is a scenic and culturally rich walk with views over Sydney Harbour and many interesting heritage buildings along the way. Most of this walk follows concrete and sealed paths, and there are some great harbour views on the second half of this walk. Come face-to-face with wildlife and ancient trees, and stop for a drink at heritage-listed Athol Hall or a Chowder Bay cafe.The Harbour Bridge to The Spit Bridge walking track continues past Chowder Bay if you feel like a longer walk. Taronga Zoo, Clifton Gardens return via Sirius Cove, Taronga Zoo to Chowder Bay return via Bradleys Head Rd, Formed track, with some branches and other obstacles (3/6), Weather generally has little impact on safety (1/6), Limited facilities, not all cliffs are fenced (3/6). Around 2km of this walk is close to useful facilities (such as fenced cliffs and seats), whilst the remaining 850m has limited facilities (such as not all cliffs fenced). Total climbing: 36m, The walk up to Georges Heights is a very scenic one, with the climax being the view from Georges Heights lookout. Some sections of this walk are closed at night. The board walk soon end and this walk follows the track along the side of the hill for about 600m to come to an intersection with a sign pointing back to ‘Bradleys Head’.

There are a few places to get food along the way, and many great places to eat your own packed lunch. The Kiosk is open from 7am-4pm every day, except Christmas and bad weather. The walk takes you through some of the best bits in Sydney Harbour National Park. Easy Track. 1. The gentle bush track weaves around the harbour headlands from Taronga Zoo Wharf around Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay and is guaranteed to impress. From this point, this walk heads along boardwalk, on your right, keeping the water glimpses to your right. The spectacular views continue as you explore bushland and the bays along the way. Total climbing: 352m, This walk explores a great section of Sydney Harbour. The remaining (790m) is flat with no steps. Total climbing: 54m, The HMAS Sydney Memorial Mast was erected in 1934, following the HMAS Sydney’s decommissioning in 1928. The track then leads around Taylors Bay to enjoy more harbour views from Chowder Head. Sydney Harbour National Park offers fantastic vantage points for a spectacular panorama of the city skyline. The walk has many brilliant vantage points over the harbour with some spots to stop for a coffee and lunch. The Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay walk is a proper bushwalk; from the endpoint at Georges Head, you can choose to walk along Middle Head Road if you want to check out Middle Head or walk to Balmoral Beach.
For day visitors, please avoid busy parks between 11am and 2pm during the school holidays to avoid congestion. The walk leads along the beach, passing the playground and rocky outcrop on the left to tend right onto a boardwalk. Bacino Bar at Clifton Gardens is worth a visit for a coffee before walking through the streets over to Sirius Cove.

This easy walk takes you from Taronga Zoo to the beach and cafes at Chowder Bay, and there's a self-guided mobile tour to download. From behind Strickland House, you will then turn right and head along a short section of the Hermitage Foreshore Walk down to Milk Beach, where you will find more great harbour and city views.

Beyond this walk, the more adventurous can climb down the steps and ladder to the rock platform below.

Bradleys Head carpark: $8 per vehicle per day. Walking past the beautiful Shark Bay, you may be temped to take a dip or at least stop and enjoy the blue water and sandstone boulders. Sydney Harbour National Park is open sunrise to sunset but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger. Camp Curlew is a secluded spot on Sydney Harbour and has historically been used as a retreat by artists.
