We had hoped to re-open the site on Saturday 29 August, but this is not going to be possible and we appreciate that this is disappointing news for those who enjoy visiting and angling at Fontburn. Fontburn Reservoir is one of our smaller waters and consequently has a reputation as being a friendly, family orientated fishery.
We brought a picnic and spent the full four hours here. While we understand this will be a disappointment for people who like to visit the site, we hope you understand that your safety must come first, and ask that people respect the continued closure. Angling remains open at the following reservoirs: Derwent, Whittle Dene, Balderhead, Cow Green, Hury, Kielder, Scaling Dam, Selset and Blackton.
Additionally, due to the topography of Fontburn Reservoir, the exposed banks and shoreline are too soft, slippy and steep for it to be safe for walkers who might venture onto them.
The Gate is located just to the north east of the reservoir at Forestburn Gate. There is a lovely playpark for kids, toilets, plenty of parking (£3.50 for four hours) and a small shop. Boat hire at Kielder Waterside will be available from Saturday 16 March and can be booked by calling 01434 251000 before your visit.
